American Idol Updates

Phil Stacey Loves Disney... And He Ain't Lion

Phil Stacey is singing on a new Disney compliation called "Country Sings Disney". Listen above to him singing "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from The Lion King. The album is in stores July 8, so pick it up and support VFTW's Nosphilatu.

Chile rocks! And here's a bonus video where she is introduced by Mario Maglieri, "The Pope of the Sunset Strip." Awesome! (P.S. We have a prize for whoever can count the number of Chiles in this song. Well there's no prize... but it's a fun game nevertheless.)

After signing Davids Cook and Archuleta, 19 Entertainment made a strange choice in their third contestant to sign from the past season: Kristy Lee Cook. Kristy is signed to 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville... yes, Arista Nashville was the same label she was signed to a long time ago before she was dropped... and will release her appropriately named first single, 15 Minutes of Shame, on August 11. I guess that means there will be a sample of Eight Days a Week in the new single. Or she'll be posing in front of a Confederate flag for the single cover. There are so many places to go with this, we hope the song is as deliciously tacky as Kristy (soon to be followed with her second single: God Bless Puppies and This Great Country We Live In). Want to take bets on how much Arista Nashville had to pony up to get Kristy on the show to make money on their patriotic investment?

Josiah Leming Officially on Warner Bros. Records Website

We've known for a while that friend of VFTW Josiah Leming had signed a record deal with Warner Bros. But now it's up on their media information site. One new detail mentioned in the article is that Josiah didn't just sign a record deal but also a publishing deal (more money for his songwriting). Right now, Josiah is in London working with producer David Kosten, which means he's in the land of all of his idols working on his own music. Very awesome. And this is the guy that Randy said is "no David Archuleta?" We'll compare Gaspy's career to Josiah's next year and get back to you with a giant belly laugh. Thanks for that one, Randy. And we can't wait for the album, Josiah!

Paris Bennett Pregnant?

We've heard that Paris Bennett has confirmed to the people running her street team that she is pregnant. At a performance in Atlanta, some of her fans were in an uproar because she appeared pregnant. Well, apparently she is. Congrats, Paris. Being a baby mama is part of being on Idol (Mantasia, Nikki McKibbin, Carlyplant who hid her baby, etc). And if she starts the baby off right, we'll have a VFTW candidate for American Idol 24. Yay!

Edited to Add: We were right again. Apparently she is naming the baby Egypt. Come on, Paris. That's a truly VFTW name.

American Idol 8 Audition Cities Announced

Worsters, go make the producers suffer and sing as bad as you possibly can at the auditions. Or at least go and hand out VFTW flyers when good singers are rejected. Recruit, recruit, recruit! This year's cities:

July 17: Cow Palace in San Francisco, California
July 21: Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky
July 25: Jobing.com Arena in Phoenix, Arizona
July 29: EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah
August 2: Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico
August 8: Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri
August 13: Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida
August 19: IZOD Center at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey

Apparently Guitar Hero is sponsoring the Idol tour this summer. Whatever. The fascinating part of the article is this picture.

Everyone remember this when you think about trying out for AI8. You have to do this. And again... Carly manages to look like an idiot in every picture she appears in.

Amanda Overmyer - Play On (Live at the Whisky)

Chile sings "Play On" live at the Whisky. One of the best performances of the night! Stay tuned, now that you've heard the originals, we'll get you the videos of some awesome covers too.
