Carly Smithson is a liar. And a really bad one at that. Ever since we broke the story that she would be on the show this year, we knew something was off with her. And it seems that it's not just something, it's everything. The girl can barely keep her lies straight. Just in case you feel bad for her lame sob stories or feel compelled to vote for her, step away from the telephone. Read on and find out how absolutely nothing said by this lying plant, who only got on the show due to working with Randy Jackson years ago at MCA records, is the truth. We'll also keep this updated with new lies as Carly weaves a tangled web of lame falsities.

The Truth About the Contestants of American Idol 7
Posted by thefunnystone on January 6, 2008 - 12:51am
When American Idol debuted in 2002, its supposed goal was to find the best undiscovered talent in America. Singers like Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken, who had dreams of stardom but never had the connections, were catapulted to megastardom. The producers found diamonds in the rough and launched their careers. But a disturbing trend has surfaced with the spoiled contestants of American Idol 7 – they’re no longer even remotely undiscovered talent. A large percentage of them are failed singers and entertainers who have already had their shot at fame. Yet Idol thinks that repackaging these failures is a good idea to make us watch their show. Gone are the days where you or your friends could try out for Idol and make it big. Now you have to already have connections. Read on to find out more about how this year’s show will just be a boring hash of recycled pseudo-celebrities who weren’t good enough to make it the first time around. And keep checking back as this article is updated almost every day with new information.

Votefortheworst.com Presents: The Truth About American Idol Auditions
Posted by thefunnystone on January 12, 2007 - 3:00am
The typical compliment to a great singer in this day and age is, "You should go on American Idol!" We all have friends that can sing circles around Katharine McPhee and Chris Daughtry, and many of them may have tried out to be on the most popular show in the country. Most of these great singers don't make it anywhere near Simon, Paula, and Randy.
"I Will Not Stop Being Me," An Interview With Brenna Gethers
Posted by thefunnystone on May 15, 2006 - 3:00am
Anyone who has been following VFTW this season knows that our very favorite contestant was the amazing Brenna Gethers. Brenna wasn't the worst singer on the show, but we loved her because she wasn't afraid to be herself when the other Idol hopefuls were kissing butt to advance to the next round. Her spirit and personality shined through, and we were sad to see her leave us way too soon in the top 20 results show. Brenna found out what huge fans we are and agreed to sit down for a great interview for the website.
VFTW receives many (many, many...) letters asking us how we could have picked poor little Kellie Pickler as the worst American Idol. We've heard from people that they love Kellie's naivete and that she's just a charming North Carolina girl who doesn't know any better. We've even heard from old friends of Kellie's and her middle school cheerleading coach. Some say that Kellie is a sweet girl, but many more say that Kellie is not as nice as she wants you to believe. We find ourselves leaning toward the latter.
As many of you have figured out, Kellie Pickler is most likely putting on an act. Not many people are that ignorant (well, maybe her clone Carrie Underwood is). To us at Votefortheworst.com, it's obvious that Kellie is playing up her "oh, I'm just an ignorant country girl" routine to get votes. Miss Picker's vomit inducing antics are truly worthy of the VFTW crown. At first, we were surprised that no one else was noticing this besides us, but then many places are picked up on Kellie's lies, including a very well written piece in the blog Clyde's All Purpose Center which helped with some of our sources.
Following are some of the lies and half-truths that Kellie has been shown telling us. We've revamped this section to make it more fact based with links to information all around the Internet. We think Kellie Pickler deserves the VFTW crown for putting on such a desperate and ridiculous act, and we were more than happy to help her last well into the competition.
VFTW is in no way responsible for the accuracy of the information given by any source... but rest assured, we aren't making this stuff up. Read on and weep. Oh, and Vote for the Worst, too.
KELLIE'S LIE #1: "I've barely sung in front of people before."
This is completely false and, frankly, we are surprised that very few people have called her on this one. Kellie has, indeed, sung in front of people and is no stranger to the stage. Eventually, she even changed her statement to "I've only sang in the shower before", which is an even lamer lie. Kellie won a county beauty pageant when she was 17 and subsequently competed to become Miss North Carolina. Oh, and her talent at both pageants? It wasn't baton twirling. Do 'Broken Wing' and 'Independence Day' sound familiar to you? And in beauty pageants, don't they wear fake eyelashes? The kind Kellie was talking about never having worn before? That's not all. Just last year, Kellie competed in a North Carolina version of American Idol called Gimme the Mike! which had a large audience. She won 2nd place after singing a bum note (Kellie, sing a bum note? Never!) and had plenty of television exposure on this show as well. She also sang at the opening of evil empire Walmart in her hometown. No matter how you slice it, that's more than just "in the shower". It's obvious that by pretending that she has never sung in front of an audience before, Kellie can use nerves as her excuse for singing poorly when that's probably not the case at all.
