Quote: Kara DioGuardi opens up about Paula Abdul's departure
Aug. 7, 2009, 12:33 PM EST
Entertainment Tonight
"American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi is dishing on her co-judge Paula Abdul's decision to depart, and also spilling the beans on why her fellow judges and "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest were not invited to her recent wedding.
"I'm completely shocked," Kara told Ryan Seacrest of Paula's decision to leave the show, on his KIIS-FM radio show, "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" Friday morning. "It's such a loss for the show, such a loss for the contestants. She's definitely the heart of the panel."
"I'm hoping she'll reconsider," Kara said. "I've left her a lot of messages."
Kara said that speculation that she was brought on board to replace Paula is not true: "I never was here to replace her. It would be impossible to replace Paula Abdul. She's an incredible talent. If anything, she was really somebody who helped me."
And of her July wedding to Mike McCuddy in Maine, Kara says that she didn't invite Ryan and the "Idol" judges because it was a small wedding and the event took place in a remote location in Maine. She joked that the flight to Boston and a nine hour car ride might be too much for the "Idol" team.

| Kara's dad was a lying windbag demagogue when he was in Congress. She's following in dad's footsteps, but at least she has no power over real issues. |

Considering Paula pretty much had the popstar singing carreer Kara never had, I'm always surprised to hear she isn't jealous of her. Secretly she must jumping for joy that she finally beat Paula out for something.
It took 6 years before Paula finally worked up the nerve to try to use Idol to re-launch a singing carreer. I'd bet it takes less time for Kara to try that. |

American Idol Judges Talk about the Show without Paula
Quote: DENVER - American Idol contestants in Denver sang their hearts out with hopes of gaining a ticket to Hollywood. The judges dished out the usual compliments and criticism, minus one familiar voice. With Paula Abdul gone from the show, guest judge Victoria Beckham did her part to seperate the good from the bad. "I'm kind of in black because I am mourning. I am mourning her leaving the show. She was the heart of the show. It was like me last year," says Idol judge Dioguardi.
There's video at the source. She's barely containing her joy in it. |

| It still sucks, although it gives us an idea what some of today's young singers will sound like when they hit cougar teritory. |

From the NY Post, The song that wouldn't die:
Quote: THE SONG THAT WOULDN'T DIE
KARA RECORDS 'NO BOUNDARIES' HERSELF

IF Kris Allen doesn't want to sing the victory song "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi wrote for him -- then she'll do it herself.
Kara posted her own studio version of "No Boundaries" yesterday on YouTube, where it got a warmer welcome than it was getting on the live "Idol" tour.
"No Boundaries" -- the show-ending anthem which both Allen and runner-up Adam Lambert sang on the finale of "Idol" last spring -- was not well received this year.
In fact, Allen dropped it from his live performance on the "Idol" tour last July after just a week because, he said, it was slowing down the show's momentum.
Suddenly and without fanfare, over the weekend, a studio version of the song by DioGuardi popped up on YouTube.
"Surprisingly, I like this better than both Adam and Kris' versions!" read one comment.
"Yeah it sounds better with a woman singing," replied another comment.
"Wow, this is amazing. Suddenly I don't hate this song as much anymore," read another.
Apparently, DioGuardi recorded and released her own version of the song so that it might get a more fair hearing.
No information was available about when or where the recording was made -- and, so far, it seems to be available only on the Web. Her version was not listed for downloading yesterday on iTunes.
In years past, specially written victory songs have gone on to become bestsellers. Kelly Clarkson's first million seller was "A Moment Like This," which was written for the final episode. But "No Boudaries" went over so poorly when it was first sung during the finals last May that some fans called for the end of the whole practice of trying to find an original song for the last show. |

I think it's even worse hearing it straight from the dog's mouth.
They should really take this song out to pasture. God, it's terrible. |

That is so true.
I am looking for a huge personality transplant, major facial work and a new humility from Kuntra this season. Prune-lipped whore! |

| I don't think it's that bad. I wonder what it would have been like if Allison had been in the F2. If you look at the YouTube comments, they are almost all positive. |

| It's hilarious someone is trying to do positive p.r. for Dogface by putting her version of this loser song out there. |

| Pathetic that she feels the need to try to prove her song doesn't suck. FAIL! That song is one of the most shitastic things I've ever heard. I don't care who's singing it. |
