X Factor

Still love these crazy kids. Do your thang, boys. Jedward album hopefully coming soon. VFTW Victory! (Video via Rickey.org)

They're still so awesome. VFTW's biggest victory in England is still alive and kicking, and we love them for it.

We've known it for weeks, but it's finally official. Simon Cowell says that American Idol 9 is his last season. RIP American Idol 2002-2010. We didn't even have to kill the show, the staff did it themselves. Loving it! X Factor should debut in America in 2011, hopefully with Paula Abdul back off her meds, and we'll make an easy switch while Idol goes under.

So what do you think? Is Idol toast now that Simon's leaving? Leave a comment.

Richard Rushfield wrote an article in The Daily Beast today about why Simon Cowell is leaving American Idol after the current season. Speculation existed that Simon was merely leaving to helm his own show (an American version of Britain's X Factor), but Richard suggests that there was also bad blood on the Idol set. The article sugges that Simon Cowell was upset that Idol producer Simon Fuller was raking in the dough, whereas Simon Cowell was seen as merely on-air talent and wasn't getting a behind-the-scenes take (Cowell makes an estimated $50 million a year from the show, so it's safe to say Fuller must be making a ton more). Simon started to assert himself more by creating shows like American Inventor and America's Got Talent, eventually clashing more and more with the producers of Idol. Now Simon is poised to leave Idol and make a larger fortune if he can get X Factor off the ground and running, especially with Paula Abdul. If X Factor has Paula and Simon, while Idol has Kara and Randy, it's a safe bet that Idol's ratings would tank. So Simon Cowell has been plotting the end of Idol all this time? Who knew we were working on the same side as him? The article is a good read, so check it out.

John and Edward on The Graham Norton Show

When people were saying boo, they were really saying woo. Jedward are still entertaining us in a VFTW way even after X Factor is over. Loving these two.

Well, there goes the show. Simon Cowell announced on his brother's weekly podcast, that he is quitting American Idol after season 9. It's clear that Simon wants out so he can bring X Factor over to America and not have to worry about Idol, since he'll be making shitloads more money producing X Factor (if it's successful). Simon always said he'd leave the show if Paula left, so it looks like the producers are helping American Idol implode on itself. Simon is clearly one of the only draws since he's full of himself and is fun to hate. Kara, Randy, and Ellen are all worthless. But Simon's lack of interest in the last few seasons of Idol has been evident. Will American Idol have a season 10, now that Simon's leaving? What do you think? Leave us a comment. A grassroots campaign started in England to make sure that the horrible TV show The X Factor didn't produce the #1 single for the week of Christmas (which it always does) has been successful. A Facebook group called Rage Against The X Factor successfully made sure that Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name Of" was the #1 single as opposed to some guy who won X Factor and no one cares about. The group did this because they're tired of Simon Cowell shoving his pre-packaged pop crap down their throats. This is hilarious, and we love it. Great work, England! You've got the Worster spirit.

P.S. The group has also raised over 80,000 pounds for charity. Bravo!

And The Era of Jedward is Over

Unfortunately, two of the most VFTW contestants ever to appear on a reality show, John and Edward, were voted off of the UK's X Factor tonight. Bad choice, England. It's not as if the other acts are really all that great anyway, so Jedward should've stuck around for entertainment value. But alas, it is not a time to mourn, but a time to celebrate all that was the last 7 weeks of Jedwardy goodness. It was a good run, boys, and we like your style. Thanks for the entertainment and we hope to see an upcoming Jedward Land stage show. We'll continue to support your awesome antics no matter what you do.
