The shirtless, dreadhead hippy thing has already been done to death on Idol. Then again, Jason Castro was decent VFTW pick before he started scamming everyone out of money. So although this guy could be a major douche, he may also be a major VFTW player. He also seems to cover Backstreet Boys and Jonas Brothers on YouTube, but it doesn't seem like he's doing it ironically. It's a toss up right now. Guess we'll make a call on him later when we see more.

Amber Caparas is a college student at the College of Charleston where she runs track and plays music on the side. There's something kind of different about her, in a good way. She seems kind of carefree and fun... so far, we can't really dislike her.
Edited To Add: Turns out this girl does have media connections. Her dad, Wayne Caparas, runs a production company called Caparas Media and did some work in films. Her uncle, Rally Casparas, is a CNN Correspondent and traffic reporter for CNN Headline News. So while not necessarily a music industry plant, she has enough relatives in the entertainment business to help her out here.

Daniel Pate is 22 years old and from Winter Haven, Florida. He's sung for ex-First Lady Laura Bush and also sang the national anthem for some Cleveland Indians games. He also tried out for Tampa Bay Idol, but didn't make it. More and more, we're finding contestants that fit Kara DioGuardi's pre-show description of "white soul", so we're thinking the top 12 will have at least a few of them. Is Danny good enough to be one of those?

Jeffrey David Goldford attended the University of Kansas and played in bands that opened for Blues Traveler and G Love and the Special Sauce. His band Everyday People also had their EP "Complicated" played on MTV's The Real World in April 2005. David then moved to Chicago and is a part of the music scene there. This guy's inclusion in Idol isn't shocking. He's basically the same thing we see every year but with a different name. Is he fodder?

24 year old Anzeo David, formerly of Diddy's Making the Band 4 (he was also the first one eliminated, just like Nicci Nix), claims on his MySpace that he has worked with Timbaland, Missy Elliott, Destiny's Child, and Dallas Austin. There's also proof of him on YouTube opening for Trey Songz and Jaheim. Sounds like a plant to us. Or just a guy with a really big ego who loves to brag about himself. At least if he's ever eliminated, he'll give us the dramatics.

Holly Hardin was a finalist on season 3 of America's Got Talent, but she was eliminated when the judges thought she wasn't ready. Since then, she's been perfecting her Kellie Pickler-esque bumpkin routine. We'll see if she comes across as endearing or obnoxious with the hick thing. Thankfully, the girl's got a little crazy in her, so that's a good thing.

Katelyn Clampett is a singer originally from North Carolina who graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 2009. While there, she won a Performer/Songwriter Showcase and Songwriting Competition in 2008. Her music was used on the Golf Channel for 2009 Nationwide Tour coverage. She has an interesting voice that's a little weak but has some charm to it. And her original song "Water Them Down" (above) is sort of catchy. So we'll give her a chance. We'll see what she's like come Hollywood week.

Justin Williams may look familiar, since he made it to Hollywood for season 8 of American Idol and almost made it to the voting rounds. The producers should love this guy since he survived prostate cancer at the age of 19 and they love milking sob stories. Unfortunately for Justin, the Kris Allen vibe won last year, so Idol probably won't be looking for his style this year. His voice seemed kind of annoying in his group Hollywood round video last year, but it actually sounds pretty good in the above video. Besides, he's easy on the eyes, and Idol isn't exactly known for picking attractive males for their top 12. And for that reason alone, he deserves at least a little bit of screen time
