Top 4 Spoilers

Posted by thefunnystone on May 6th, 2008 at 4:28 PM

As always, VIA TMZ.

Everyone's Favorite Stoner- "I Shot the Sheriff" and "Mr. Tambourine Man"
Gaspy- "Love Me Tender" and "Stand By Me"
Big Head- "Baba O'Reilly" and "Hungry Like the Wolf"
Snoreesha- "Proud Mary" and "Change it Gonna Come"

Archuleta's picks look terrible, so that should be fun. Cook singing "Hungry Like the Wolf" should be a train wreck. Syesha picked 2 cliché songs we can all take naps during. And Jason will do VFTW proud with a song about drugs and one that will offend the tweenies. Maybe tonight won't suck? Nah.

Buy Chris Sligh's Debut Album, Out Today

Posted by thefunnystone on May 6th, 2008 at 8:55 AM

Chris Sligh's debut album, Running Back To You, is in stores today, so pick up a copy and support him. From what we've heard, the album is really good, and features Chris's signature vocals and songwriting abilities. Sadly, there is no track called, "Hi, Dave." Maybe it's on his next album ;-) You can find the album at a local store near you or online here (Best Prices we've found: $9.99 at iTunes for the download and $10 at his official site for the physical CD):

Look no further than American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe's hey day as one of the Young Generation dancers. Nigel looks as creepy as ever, even when he was younger. Thanks to Paola for showing us the inspiration for why Idol sucks so bad nowadays (Nigel is the one in the black. You can see him better around 40 seconds in).
P.S. Here's a second video if you can stomach it.

Just in case you haven't seen it yet

This video of Jason has been going around the internet for a while, and now that he's an official VFTW pick, we can totally embrace it. Jason is just having a blast, playing his guitar and messing up while feeling pretty good. At around 1:00 in, he talks about being sauced. Did you just have a pasta dinner, Jason? Well we urge you to bring this to your performances this week and just give us an entertaining show. You know you want to! Can some of his fans ship him some extra strong "oregano" for his sauce this week? Thanks much.

Random Idol Thoughts

Random Idol Thoughts

Paula-Gate 2008 is growing in intensity… well it is for us at VFTW, I think the typical  teeny-booper  (misspelling was unintentional, but funnier)  Idol fans still don’t give a rip that their show is broken this season.

Paula’s AI apologists have come out of the wood-work.  “Oh, it’s just Paula, she made a mistake.  It’s live TV.”  Heck, I even made a bone-headed typo writing about it.

Vote for the Stoned Supports Jason Castro

You knew it was coming. Everyone's favorite pothead is our new pick. The way that he doesn't seem to care what happens on the show is so refreshing, and his "I don't care" attitude must be annoying the others by now. Which of course makes us cheer. And of course, Paula and the gang tried to get him out this week with the scripted comments. Could it be any more obvious that he's supposed to go home next? So we say, let's give it the old college try. Pizza pockets and beer pong for all!

No One Believes Rehabdul's Spin

Posted by thefunnystone on May 1st, 2008 at 4:37 PM

Even the New York Times is in on it now. Idol really messed up this week when Paula clearly showed on Tuesday night that the judges do not watch the contestants' performances during the live shows. No matter what the excuse is, the result is stil lthe same: the show is losing its credibility fast. In the Times piece, lying producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz says that "she does not believe that the credibility of the show has been compromised." Yeah, just say it enough times and it becomes true, just like this being the best top 12 ever. Cecile also added that, "the judge’s opinions do not determine the viewers’ votes." In what world are you living in, Cecile? Most of the Idol viewers do exactly what Simon and the gang tell them to do. Why do you think Archuleta is so popular? It's surely not his talent. The Chicago Tribune even asks the question "Why are people only noticing American Idol's shenanigans now?" while giving VFTW credit for trying to expose the emperor's new clothes for a while now.

Bye Bye, Brooke :(

Posted by thefunnystone on April 30th, 2008 at 8:51 PM

Well that's no fun! Brooke helped us take out CarlyPlant, in the amazing results show last week, a true VFTW victory. But as soon as we said hello, we had to say goodbye. It was a great, crazy few weeks, filled with awesome VFTWness. But now, we move on. Probably to Jason, right? No poll is necessary this week as there aren't many choices left. Leave a comment and let us know what you think. Or give us a call at the radio show (on live now!) and tell us who we should vote for. The show's not over till the fat lady sings... and Carly won't be back until the finale!
