MJ's Big Blog just posted that this week's mentor for Rat Pack week is Jamie Foxx. Yes, because when we think of the Rat Pack, Jamie Foxx comes to mind. Hopefully he'll sing his autotune masterpiece "Blame It on the Alcohol" on the results show and offend the judges. Also Jamie will hopefully coach Matt to break out his inner Worster and piss all over the stage with his vocals.

At least this particular Hollywood person (unlike Tarantino) can actually SING!

But like Quentin, he has a movie in need of pimping. It has nothing to do with the Rat Pack, of course, but it is about a messed up musician, so I guess that's close enough for AI. They should have just made that the theme this week - songs from performers who abused alcohol and other drugs or were just plain mentally unstable.

WTF? Why exactly Jamie Foxx?! What does he have to do with the Rat Pack? He played Ray Charles, but Ray had nothing to do with the Rat Pack. He has a new movie to promote - but so does, for example, Hugh Jackman. Can we have Wolverine instead?

This is getting ridiculous. At least in previous seasons the mentors had something in common with the theme while being musicians. This year we get Tarantino and Foxx. WTF, just WTF?

this show officially makes even LESS sense. for the rat pack... hm. wtf?

though I admit his crappy song is catchy.

they're going to be bringing in random homeless guys off the street to mentor them at the rate they're going.

Wat the fuck?
Out of all the weeks they pick him for rat pack week?
Good job Idol idiots! You never fail to disappoint!

Hopefully Matt can learn something from Jamie Foxx and stay in the game. I don't know what that something is but I have high hopes for him staying tonight.

Don Cheadle or Ray Liotta would have made more sense...

I agree with mapa3m! get Hugh Jackman! at least he has some sort of musical sense, can carry a tune and doesn't rely on rappers to get him through a song.....all this painful movie pimping is getting old.....bring in people who actually have something to say other than "it go was see good my I new look movie forward it to is seeing fucking what amazing you and totally do worth on you stage money with people it" (read every other word)

What about Billy Crystal? Did he grow up around the Rat Pack? I remember he mentioning on the Actors Studio how close he was to Sammy.

ETA: Apparently, his dad was the executive and producer of Commodore Record store (who was all about jazz).

Oh, I get it now! The AI producers must hate Miley Cyrus and want to humiliate her even more.
I totally forgot - Jamie Foxx talked some serious crap about her 2 weeks ago!

And now he's going to be the guest mentor on AI show 2 weeks after she was the guest performer! Priceless!!

Hopefully this won't be as ridiculous as Movie Week with Quentin Tarantino! Ok yeah QT, we know you know about putting cool music in your soundtracks. So how exactly does that qualify you to give singing tips??? WTF?

But yeah, at least the mentor this week can actually SING. Maybe TPTB thought that anyone left that could be associated with The Rat Pack FOR REAL was too old and would scare off younger viewers. But then again... nothing could be scarier than that disco medley with all those sad old disco has-beens! *cringe*
