If this is all a publicity stunt... well, good for Paula. She needs something to take people's attention away from her drug binges. Useless tool and Ryan Seacrest wannabe Billy Bush has tweeted that the deal with Idol might not be dead after all. Good Lord. Idol sure knows how to stay in the news, doesn't it? They should purge the judges' table and replace all of them with people off the street - it'd be cost effective, and the quality of the judging could only improve.

The tabloids are saying they're going for Victoria Beckham to replace her... Which means VFTW Scientology goodness!

I can't see her coming back, if the reports are accurate, i.e. Paula making 2-3 million vs Seacrest making 45 million. She's PO'ed and must save face. There are plenty of plastic girly men that could do Seacrest's job, but Paula will be hard to replace. Ya, she's kind of stupid, never was a good singer, though I guess she was a pretty good cheerleader choreographer. But she's so goofy and entertaining! Kind of like, dare I say it, Tatiana. As somebody else pointed out, replacing her with their own page on dickipedia won't help. Oh well, I'll maybe tune in occasionally, but after about 5 minutes will quickly realize it's just not worth watching anymore. But have no fear, there will be other things to mock in the future.

I like Paula - one of the few entertaining things on the show. I'd like to see her back but I kind of hope she gives Idol the big Fuck You!

Peter Rice, the chairman for entertainment at Fox Broadcasting, told a meeting of the Television Critics Association “It wasn’t a decision that we made,” he said. “But now that the decision is made, we have to look at it in a positive way, and we have to look at it as an opportunity for the show to bring a different energy to it and an energy that will be really entertaining for the public. Even the amount of talk and writing and feedback we are getting now shows that people are really engaged and interested in how the show evolves after Paula leaves.”

"People close to the contract negotiations, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss contract details, said that Ms. Abdul turned down a new pay package worth about $5 million a year. Previously, those people said, she earned an annual salary of about $2 million and received another $1.5 million for wardrobe, hair and makeup, and other expenses."
