AI needs to know their audience which is fraus and tweentards and of course they are only going to vote for the guys on this crapfest. Might as well make the whole top 12 guys.

Bull! 75%+ of viewers are female, and women don't watch this show to vote for other women (unless you're a lesbian), they watch it for the man candy! It's almost obvious this show isn't based on talent, it's based on the hunkyness of a male contestant. Therefore, no one cares about the female contestants (again, unless you're a lesbian). I'm just sayin.

Megan was the only attractive female this year.
Last year, Syesha, Kristy, and Amanda were more than normal.
The year before it was just Haley.
The year before, Katharine and sort of Kellie.
The Idol females are just not that pretty. The Idol guys are usually even uglier.

I'd be more surprised if that wasn't the case actually. Two male winners AND runner-ups in a row (not to mention third-placer this year) can't bode well for coming seasons.
Also it's funny if they're suddenly hoping more males will start watching the show. There's not much chance of that catching on at all at this point, is there. They should be more concerned about their demographics, namely 40- and 14-year-olds. Dare ya to fix that, Fox.

The only times a girl was the runner up were AI3 (Diana DeGarmo) and AI5 (Katharine McPhee). Based on this, the runner-up will probably be a guy. I'm okay with a girl winning as long as she's a person that we can like. Hopefully we get a girl/girl finale then we get a VFTW Victory for the last vote.

The men on this show are never hot. They are only "hot" in the Idol Bubble. Really, clean up any douchebag reasonably well, and if he can carry a tune the fraus will be all over him. And the only cute girls to do really well on the show were Carrie and Katherine, and Katherine failed after the show. Putting cute girls on won't make straight guys want to watch all of the sudden.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. As a woman, I have to say that Idol has very little eye candy for us. Kris Allen is the only attractive man to make it far (David Cook I guess is okay looking, but the rest have not been.) I guess that's because all the main producers are men.
Okay - look at this list:
Justin Guarini, Clay Aiken, Bo Bice, Blake Lewis, Adam Lambert, Chris Daughtry, Reuban Studdard, Taylor Hicks, Danny Gokey, Eliott Yamin.
Opposed to:
Kelly Clarkson, Tamyra Grey, Diana DeGarmo, Carrie Underwood, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Jordin Sparks (I still think she is pretty, even though you guys don't), Syesha Mercado, Vonzell Solomon. And that's just a list of women who made it far in the competition! If I wasn't just using women who were in the top four, I'd add Felicia Barton, Haley Scarnato. . . .

It seems obvious that American Idol 9 will produce a female winner. If the show doesn't, females will stop trying out due to the fact that male contestants have completely shut out females from the finales the last 2 years. We received a juicy bit of gossip from someone who knows one of the producers. The producer allegedly let it slip that the show is determined to have a female winner next year no matter how the public votes. The producer also apparently believes not enough men watch the show, so they're planting some good looking females in this year's top 12. This should be very easy to verify, as the females who make the top 12 each year are usually incredibly unattractive for the most part.
So this probably means the great VFTW hope for season 9 will be a male to throw off the producers' plans. Thanks to our tipster!
