Canadian Idol is Canceled, Over, Kaput, Done

We heard from a few sources this week that Canadian Idol has closed up shop and does not plan to have a season 7. We'll see if an official announcement comes out anytime soon, but we expect that the show is over. Somewhere Zack Werner is probably having a nice, tall drink.

Edited To Add: Official word's out now. And one source gives us credit for breaking the story. We were right, as always. ;)

Gawdammit. I will miss the best judges ever - Zack and Sass. And Jully, the best host ever. And the wonderfully diverse range of contestants. No other Idol would give us people like Kalan, Theresa, Steffi, Earl, Mark, Mookie, Montana, Melissa, Jaydee and Jacob.

CI is the best version of Idol, bar none. Shitcan AI or Aus Idol instead!

This blows.

Damn you CTV.

I hope Global or some other Canadian network picks it up.

No other Idol would crown an openly gay winner without batting so much as an eyelash either.

This sucks cause CI was better than all the other idol shows [better judges, contestants, hosts, etc]. I hope another network picks it up, but if not, well I guess everything has to come to an end.

They won't. SBMG cannot justify the investment for the Canadian market.

I'm wondering if maybe they're just putting it on hiatis for a year or two, with the intent of allowing the talent pool to grow. Perhaps the talent pool for CI was getting a little thin, and they felt the need to let it grow awhile. Pisses me off, because CI, which dared to be original, entertaining, and eclectic, was so much better than AI and its constant doses of Whitney Houston, Celine, and Stevie Wonder.

I hope its back in a couple of years. Igrecman threatened to make the previous season his last, so maybe he'll have a change of heart by then, also.

Dammit! I wanted to see if Carly Smithson decided to jump the border and audition for CI.

I just wanted to set the record straight here:
Canadian Idol has been postponed for the 2009 season.
Meaning, it will likely be back in 2010, when this economic crisis hopefully blows over. Every article, newscast, talk show that reported this said that. Please get your news right, VFTW
