The Claymates Implode: Part 2

We bring you some more Claymate fan reactions about his coming out from around the internet. The first place is even closing their message board thread every few minutes to edit people's posts. Hilarious! This stuff might be better than the Mail Bag. There's too much for the page, so click "read more" to see everything.

"I think many will realize tomorrow that he is saying he is Happy = Gay. Happy about his new son, Parker. Not that he likes men."

"WORD! It wasn't until I saw Clay in Spamalot that I became convinced that he had not been telling us the truth (I can't put my finger on what it was, exactly, but I just felt it in my gut for the first time during that performance); then when the story about the baby was reported I believed it was confirmation that he was, in fact, gay and I had allowed myself to be deceived all those years. Now I think that Clay wants to have his cake and eat it too: He wants us to continue to love him and to support him even though he is not the person we were led to believe he was, and he wants us to embrace the person he always was but is just now admitting to being and who I would never have supported if I had been told the truth in the first place! I know he wants me to feel sorry for him but I don't. I think he has known since puberty. I just wish he would have kept quiet about it instead of blabbing in a major publication. Now I have to endure the humiliation of being proven to be incredibly STUPID! I have donated all my Clay Aiken tee shirts, CDs, etc. to charity and some of the stuff ended up in the landfill, which is a good place for it. To Clay I say: Depart from me, I never knew you. "

"I was still hoping - wanting to be blind. Now my stomach just feels revolted. It was fun for 5 years. Now for me....it's over. Wishing Clay all the best."

"He lied. Whether he believes it was "intentional" or not, he lied. Again and again and again. And for that he should apologize to this fandom. Not for being Gay- but for lying about it. And the fact that he hasn't yet to me speaks volumes about his character and his willingness to accept his part in fans confusion/upset."

"So why lie in Rolling Stone and in his autobiography? Sorry, the Bible says homosexuality is wrong, and as a Christian I believe that. We can't just follow the parts of the Bible that we want or that are convenient to us, or we are not Christians. And he says he's a Christian. Too bad, I was supporting him since 2003."

"Disclaimer - not a homophobe or fearful, but it seems like this as a nasty prank against the fandom. For those of you who don't believe this is a photoshop, even considering the source (why do people not consider the source as an important thing?)-
the date is October 8th or 8th on the mag cover
1)if Clay was going on GMA with this story, do you think they would not be trumpeting it from the rooftops?
2)The other "stories on the cover of people " are Emmy gowns - which I believe would be old news in over 2 weeks from now and DJ AM and how he survived, which is the current top story on the People page right now, so I don't think they are going to hold that for 2 weeks.
Reeks of photoshop to me. We can probably even find the picture of Clay's head from a recent fan photo if we look hard enough.
Believe if you want, I just know that nothing is true unless it is printed in the fan club (a little OFC humor here).
I am really shocked that this source would be considered reliable on anything when almost everything he prints has been printed some where else before, unless he makes it up. I just figure he spent a little money on a good photoshopper. No, I am not delusional, this just does not add to me." - playbiller"

"I'm not going to lie and say I'm not shocked. I can't believe I said he wasn't gay. I denied it up and down to my mom and all." - Alexandria

"I don't approve of the homosexual lifestyle, and that's all I have to say. I don't plan on posting in aikenforums anymore. See ya." - Diane

"Fans shouldn't be condemned or judged because of our deep disappointment at Clay's formal acknowledgement. The people guilty of judging Clay are those who assumed he was gay early on despite his denials. Around my office people know how much I like Clay and as expected, I didn't have a chance to drink my coffee before someone showed up at my cube to rub the news in. I've stood up for him many, many times and I've driven hundreds of miles to hear him in concert and bought just about everything he's ever had his name or picture on. I did all this not out of obsession but because I thought Clay lived the life the bracelet he "used" to wear is all about. From the time he walked into that first audition, I was happy that some geeky guy with nerdy looks and an ordinary background had captured hearts and made people accept him just as he was without him having to look like a Brad Pitt. I think many of us feel used-that the support we've given him took him through a certain phase of his career that's behind him now (the tour thing, screaming fans, etc.). Now, he's ready to move on to the next phase - whether we're all still there or not is no longer crucial. I think that's why he made the decision to have a child when he did and why he's now admitted that he's gay."

"I knew it. I knew it. From the moment he started saying "We" all the time and the way the CD was done and then the baby news, "having a baby with a friend". Something was definitely up. Talking about all the work he has done for disprivileged children and to have a child of his own was so much MORE important to him. Geez. The picture with the baby is awful. How could he do that to that child. He sold out. He turned Hollywood. He is not who he has presented himself to be..Yes, since Spamalot, I thought he was gay and I knew it when the baby news came out. How much more do the "fans" have to take from this man? How many more "surprises". Next, it will be "my live-in lover of the past 5 years and I are raising our child". " I am marrying my lover, his name is ----" What is wrong with this board is that some people on here have no morals, no thoughts, no beliefs, just "my undying love for Clay Aiken", who can do no wrong. He is a real person, has strong beliefs, a church goer, a do-gooder. Bull. He lied. He deceived. He made his career more important and I did not think he would do that ever. He was a real person. He is a façade of a person who was there, but is gone forever. For 5-1/2 years now. Bull-hockey he did not know he was gay at a young age. He lied. Sad, sad, sad. Whoever thinks it is okay to have a child with a friend anyway. Sad. He knew. Ridiculous. He is a human being who lied and misled for gain."

Depart from me, I never knew you? This is both hilarious and sad at the same time.

Damn, reading the rest of these just makes me sad for these closed-minded people.

"he wants us to embrace the person he always was but is just now admitting to being and who I would never have supported if I had been told the truth in the first place!"

If I thought like that, I would never have read a book by Chuck Palahniuk or David Sedaris (two of my favorite authors, btw); I would never have listened to music by the Indigo Girls, Erasure or Bob Mould; I would never have seen movies directed by Pedro Almodovar, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, or Todd Haynes. My life would be so much poorer for missing out on the words, music, and images that these GAY persons have put into the world.

Oh yeah, and I should have just turned my back on my Dad when he came out. "Thanks for raising me and supporting me for 20 years, now fuck off, you queer" instead of telling him that I loved him, no matter what. What a dumbass I am!

"Fans shouldn't be condemned or judged because of our deep disappointment at Clay's formal acknowledgement. The people guilty of judging Clay are those who assumed he was gay early on despite his denials."

So, by your logic, the people who could tell and weren't in denial (as Clay was) are judgmental pricks, and the people who are turning their backs on him when he is finally comfortable not being in denial are NOT judgmental pricks.

I'm going to go and scratch my head for a few hours trying to sort this one out.

There is one nugget of truth in all this hilarity: the little turd never should have lied to the public because the truth was going to come out eventually. He couldn't hide forever. We all knew all along anyway, right? So why lie?
On the other hand..... would we be talking about him now if not for the "scandals"?

fondula...he never should have lied? wtf? its harder to come out in America than you think. Especially with Clay coming from a very religious background. And look at the judgement he is NOW getting from his idiotic fans. So don't condemn him for making a personal choice to not come out immediately. I'm glad he finally did. we all knew it already anyways.

Wow, I knew some of these fat bitches would flip out but how fuckin' obnoxious and judgmental can they get?

Coming out of the closet is a really really tough experience and frankly I can sympathize with Clay on this. Was it because of his career concerns or because of his background? Who knows. It's not as easy as people think and these ignorant twats who are made that he lied need to get a clue. Maybe he lied because he knew this would be the reaction?

I love the one who is in denial that it's a real magazine cover. You could, y'know, just check people.com–it's right in the top left corner.

Hopefully he'll have less of these stalker-like AI hausfraus bothering him after things settle down. I wouldn't be surprised if the safety of his baby entered into this decision.
