Nigel Lythgoe = Homophobic Jerkoff
Wonder why we don't have any out gay contestants on Idol? So did Michael Jensen from AfterElton.com. He sat down with executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, and Nigel lied through his teeth and still came across like a douchebag. Nigel states that he never asks contestants if they are gay and that it doesn't matter. Too bad he's lying. In this article, it says that Jim Verraros, a gay contestant from season 1, was forced to take down an online journal that said he was gay. Jim also says that The Advocate left voicemails for him while he was on the show and that they were never passed on to him. Even the flaming and fabulous Danny Noriega has never publicly stated he is gay since the show wrapped, ducking the question for some reason. Michael brings up the great point that the heterosexual Idol contestants are allowed to talk about their spouses, boyfriends/girlfriends, etc, while gay contestants have never mentioned theirs. Danny Noriega even referred to the person he liked as the unisex word "crush." Just what exactly is in the Idol contract? Seems creepy. And as if Nigel didn't dig himself deep enough into a hole, Nigel also says he hates "effeminate boys that mince around the stage." So apparently a male dancing effeminately is not dancing? Oh Nigel, no one must have loved you as a child (or now).

Michael Jensen asks about "gay contestants" and Nigel says "You mean homosexual guys who have come out?" This really speaks to his fear, doesn't it? He doesn't even consider the possibility that the question includes women. He's just thinking guys.
