A MySpace bulletin was sent out by a musician named Chinua Hawk that says that American Idol season 7 semifinalist Luke Menard has been diagnosed with cancer and is currently in stage 2. That's truly awful and it just emphasizes that there are many important things in life that go beyond a silly television show. Make sure to leave Luke some words of encouragement from the Worsters at http://www.myspace.com/chaptersix or send him an e-mail at luke@chapter6.com. In times like these, it's always great to hear positive words.
UPDATE: We've heard from someone close to Luke, who let us know that Luke does not have inoperable cancer. The ShowBuzz reports that he was dianosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. His condition is actually treatable and has a 93% full recovery rate. That's great news! Still make sure to send Luke some words of encouragement.

Poor Luke. I hope he gets well soon. My thoughts are with him and his family.
I'm another Hodgkin's
I'm another Hodgkin's survivor. This cancer is actually most common in young adults ages 15-35, and at Stage 2 has nearly a 100% survival rate. Chemo sucks and he might be left with a few minor permanent health problems from it (I still have some lung issues), but he will almost certainly pull through! It's going to be a rough six months for Luke, though. All the best to him.
Will do, thanks for bringing
Will do, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Damn! I will be wishing him
Damn! I will be wishing him luck and hoping everything works out for him. Cancer is such a bitch!
Lost my father to cancer 8yrs ago. My sister was diagnosed 4yrs ago(she's still here BTW). It's a thief that steals life and joy from all who have it. Good Luck Luke. I wasn't crazy about you on Idol, but I wish and hope you get through this well.
It IS inoperable, which
It IS inoperable, which means they can't cut it out and cure it (because of where it is). The treatment is chemo, which isn't fun, but while this cancer used to be a death sentence, today cure is the rule more than the exception.
AI is just a stupid show.

Life is what's important. I will say a prayer for Luke and wish him a full recovery. God Bless Him.

Luke does not have
Luke does not have inoperable cancer.. Chinua misunderstood the diagnosis. What Luke has is totally treatable and he is trusting God in this situation. Please do pray for him, but know that this info is totally incorrect.
My deepest condolences.

I write this as I am
I write this as I am preparing to drive a friend to her chemo appt. for stage four ovarian. You just have to keep fighting the good fight. Anything can happen, even when the statistics say otherwise. Good luck Luke.

He will pull through! Just
He will pull through! Just as others have said, cancer is not a death sentence. I am a surgical intern at a hospital and I have seen many a cancer patient that on paper should have died pull through purely because of the sheer positive thought and will power behind them, often times the refusal to give in stood in for where their body and medicine gave up.
Family and friends will rally around him and he has fans all around the country, and I hope he keeps his head up and fights it bravely and never gives up. That can make all the difference in the final outcome. He's a really handsome and talented guy and I really believe he'll make it.
I'll light a candle for him tonight and wish him the best (even those of us in medicine acknowledge that there are many things beyond syringes and pills that interconnect into the process of healing and survival).
I think if everyone reading this can spare a freaking minute out of their lives to light a candle, and whatever religion or spiritual belief or philosophy you have, just direct a positive thought towards Luke. Peace.
I was diagnosed with stage 2
I was diagnosed with stage 2 non hodgkins lymphoma. I had a 12 cm. tumor behind my left lung which was also considered inoperable. That was nine years ago and I'm cancer-free. I share this because I want people to know cancer is NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT an automatic death sentence!
My prayers to Luke and his family....from one survivor to another....
