So Kelly, Bo and Taylor (and more) all had record deals.... So we're supposed to ruin this poor girl's life just because the internet FINALLY caught on to this? Sure it's kinda silly to think that Britney Spears could be dropped from her contract and do American Idol... but at least it'd be entertaining. I bet VFTW would back her.
Much adoo about nothing, methinks.

hey hayesjk2000... if what Nigel says is true, they have been picking "discovered talent" since Kelly Clarkson.
Really though think about it... how can you be that talented and have not been discovered at this point? How can someone be 22 years old, have an amazing singing voice... and not at least flirted with a record contract.

Pleasenocrazypeople--
It's simple. Because AI always makes a point in saying that they are out to find the best "undiscovered talent." They have said this time and again, especially the idiot judges. This year they have more supposed "undiscovered talent" than any other year. They are picking the people they want instead of actually seeing if there is any undiscovered talent this time. Well, more so than usual. Basically, they are probably turning away alot of good singers so they can have their own "chosen" ones, or plants if you will.
Why should people like Carly get two chances when most people don't even get one?

To be fair to Carly she has NO control over what she says on the show and is forbidden to talk at all outside of the official AI channels. She seems to have been quite open about it before going on the show.
AI put that brief mention of it on her interview and she probably had a lot more to say about it, but they chose to make it sound like something quite different than it really was just so that they could say "We told! We did!" to those of us who do know how to read.

So you only like her due to her ethnicity?
Gawd how narrow minded.
Yo, indeed. Homes.

Actually, I've got a feeling this angle will get a lot more play. This link is being heavy circulated. Got two different emails myself from different people.

Dave-
I just watched a video on MSNBC about the "carly controversy." They did mention that she was signed with MCA while Randy was there. They made it a point to say that as long as the singers don't have "current" record deals, they are in the clear.
Here is the link to the video:

The Today Show did a segment on the plants this morning. Matt and Meredith both grumbled that it was unfair afterward.
